Objective

  • Finding squares of a number by repeated multiplication.
  • Identifying the same number of objects in different group.
  • Recognizing as the number increases the square also increases.

Estimated time

40 min

Materials:

barbie dolls(any other object),sheet,pencil.

Prerequisites/Instructions

  1. The children should be familiar with counting of objects.
  2. They should know the multiplication/product of numbers.
  3. The children finds that by multiplying the number with the same number gives a perfect square.

process

  1. Initially the teacher gives two boxes to two individual children and tells to count the number of objects
  2. Each individually starts to count the number of objects
  3. The child comes with their answers by counting the objects
  4. Now the teacher ask to check whether they have equal number of objects.
  5. The teacher tells to write these numbers in the form of repeated multiplication form and find its product
  6. The product obtained will be the square of the number.

Hence this activity can be done with different objects with different group of students.
