Process (How to do the activity)

Take half litre water in a beaker.Add small amount of Potassium Permanganate to it.Observe the colour and see the concentration of the solution.Open up the tap.See that the quantity of the solution increases. Now again note the concentration of the solution and find thedifference. When the solution is evaporated observe the change in colour and concentration Repeat the process with different salts.

Developmental Questions (What discussion questions)

  1. Which solute is added to the water?
  2. What is the amount of water in the beaker?
  3. What colour did you observe?
  4. What are the changes when water is added?
  5. What changes do you observe when solution is evaporated?
  6. What is your conclusion?

Evaluation (Questions for assessment of the child)

  1. Name the factors on which concentration depends?
  2. What happens when solution is diluted? Why?
  3. What happens when solution is evaporated? Why?
