Background

Due to the continuous spread of Covid-19 over the past two years and the impact of the current (Omicron) wave, school/colleges are likely to close for a few days. In such a situation,to help children learn the introduction of technology is very important for teachers to conduct online classes. Keeping this situation in mind, DSERT, DIET and IT for Change (ITFC) are conducting online courses for teachers in Bangalore South and Bangalore Northern Districts for those who are interested in creating and collecting resources using technology.

Since all teachers do not have a computer facility, we intend to conduct this online course separately in two groups, ie, mobile teachers and computer teachers.

Objectives

  1. To build basic digital literacy skills for teachers
  2. To help teachers to access existing OER resources from the Internet.
  3. To help teachers to create digital resources for the classroom teaching
  4. To help teachers to get familiar with online webinar tools to conductclasses
  5. To help schools/institutions to use the FOSS webinar platform to conduct online classes

Approach

  1. The workshop will be held over 4 webinar sessions.
  2. Each webinar session will be for a duration of 90 minutes through the BigBlueButton FOSS webinar tool
  3. All the workshop resources will be shared through KOER online repository
  4. The topic of each session will be stand-alone (one topic per session)
  5. Registered teachers will become members of a WhatsApp group where important notifications related to the workshop will be communicated. This will also be used for any virtual support and instant resource sharing with teachers.

  1. Creating Libre office/Collabora office- presentation on the selected topic - Adding text
  2. Adding images and videos to the presentation, and basic formatting
    1. Adding text and formatting text
    2. Use different slide templates, themes
    3. Insert images in slide and image formatting
    4. Adding Animation
    5. Exporting presentation into a different format to share or open it on other platforms
