Teachers capacity building course on conducting online classes - 2022

Background

Due to the continuous spread of Covid-19 over the past two years and the impact of the current (Omicron) wave, school/colleges are likely to close for a few days. In such a situation,to help children learn the introduction of technology is very important for teachers to conduct online classes. Keeping this situation in mind, DSERT, DIET and IT for Change (ITFC) are conducting online courses for teachers in Bangalore South and Bangalore Northern Districts for those who are interested in creating and collecting resources using technology.

Since all teachers do not have a computer facility, we intend to conduct this online course separately in two groups, ie, mobile teachers and computer teachers.

Objectives

To build basic digital literacy skills for teachers
To help teachers to access existing OER resources from the Internet.
To help teachers to create digital resources for the classroom teaching
To help teachers to get familiar with online webinar tools to conductclasses
To help schools/institutions to use the FOSS webinar platform to conduct online classes

Approach

The workshop will be held over 4 webinar sessions.
Each webinar session will be for a duration of 90 minutes through the BigBlueButton FOSS webinar tool
All the workshop resources will be shared through KOER online repository
The topic of each session will be stand-alone (one topic per session)
Registered teachers will become members of a WhatsApp group where important notifications related to the workshop will be communicated. This will also be used for any virtual support and instant resource sharing with teachers.
